There is something about a tree that you can always count on, it’s always in the same place, it will always grow and produce leaves or fruit, and they will always die, break, or root. But more importantly trees always support life, where there are trees there will be insects, birds, worms, they even provide wood to make fire for warmth which we cannot live without. Trees bring us back to our basic needs as human beings
trees also go back to the basic need everyone feels to be connected to something, to be a part of something, and occasionally to struggle. Different people look to all kinds of things to feel connected such as religion, family, friends, siblings, lovers etc. all these things make us a part of something, they also fill our needs emotionally, spiritually, and physically. now, back to the struggle part, struggling is a part of every life form on the planet, trees struggle for light, fish struggle to survive, even the most basic life form struggles for food (the sea sponge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laJgUrSsO_k&feature=related ) I believe it is healthy to struggle for something, if I really think about it struggling begins as soon as I wake up in the morning, I struggle getting out of bed, driving to school, paying attention in class, even decisions like should I spend five/six dollars of my hard earned money for something to eat or save it for later and settle for something less appetizing? (Eight out of ten times I will choose to settle). The point is that it is healthy to struggle every once in a while, it makes us who we are. All these ideas ultimately come back to trees in the fact that trees are connected to the earth air and water, yet they are always reaching for something more and their struggle for light shape and mold them into what we see in nature today.
